Abstract. The article analyzes current trends in the media industry related to the consumer
behavior of the audience and commodity-money relations in the mass media system. The author addresses the problems of the widespread distribution of mass culture. Indirectly, the processes of enlarging media monopolizing business affect the substantive nature of media texts and the products of mass communications.
